Jessica Benjamin, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist, has been with our firm since 2017. She received her master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in December of 2003 from Auburn University, a field that is uniquely focused on serving individuals with disabilities. She has over 7 years of valuable experience serving clients with disabilities. Before joining our firm, she worked with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services in a counseling position helping TANF recipients with disabilities obtain Social Security disability benefits or she assisted them with the support that they needed to obtain employment. Her experience in this position and her expertise in case management and disabilities sparked her interest in working in the field of Social Security disability law. Other work experiences during her career include job coaching individuals with disabilities, providing disability awareness training to Montgomery Career Center staff, and working as a registration representative at a local hospital. Ms. Benjamin’s position at our firm is Disability Development Director. She oversees the medical record development of our cases at the hearing level. Her favorite part of the job is calling clients to congratulate them after they have been approved for benefits.
Ms. Benjamin started an online Facebook support group for neuropathy patients in 2011 which is called “Support for Neuropathy.” It currently has over 6,000 members. Ms. Benjamin was also on the board of directors for the Neuropathy Support Network which was an excellent educational resource for neuropathy patients. They published an online journal called “The Neuropathy Journal.” The link is https://neuropathyjournal.org/. Colonel Eugene B. Richardson, an exemplary advocate for veterans and neuropathy patients, was the founder of this organization. He passed away on April 1, 2019 due to complications from his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
Ms. Benjamin is married with two teenage boys. She enjoys singing in the choir at church. She also enjoys gardening and watching her favorite shows on Hulu and Netflix.
